Prima di sentirci in grado di usare un nuovo phrasal verb o una frase idiomatica ci serve un contesto sicuro dove possiamo provare a usare questi nuovi elementi della lingua senza correre nessun rischio, vero? Immediatamente sotto troverete il vocabolario che vi può servire per parlare con i vostri Club Partners (altri alunni di MPEC con i quali sarai messo in coppia per le conversazioni guidate)
Se avete voglia e tempo – seguite il consiglio numero 1 dell’immagine a sinistra e fate un review di tutti i ‘language bits’ che pensiamo vi possono essere utili. Siamo i Vostri Coach e vi conosciamo bene! Sappiamo che usare Idioms & Phrasal Verbs può essere una vera sfida, dunque sono spesso proprio questi gli elementi di linguaggio che vi proporremo 🙃

Idiomatic Expressions Related to Discoveries and Science
- “Break new ground:” Definition: To make a significant discovery or progress in a field. Example: “The team’s research on renewable energy sources really broke new ground in sustainable technology. 🌱⚡️”
- “Open new horizons:” Definition: To reveal new possibilities and areas of exploration. Example: “The discovery of exoplanets has opened new horizons in our search for extraterrestrial life. 🌌🪐”
- “In the dark about:” Definition: To lack knowledge or information about something. Example: “Before the announcement, we were completely in the dark about the groundbreaking findings. 🌑🔬”
Phrasal Verbs You Will Find Useful When Speaking About Inventions
- “Bring about:” Definition: To cause something to happen; to lead to a particular outcome. Example: “Their research brought about a breakthrough in clean energy solutions. 🌍⚙️”
- “Look into:” Definition: To investigate or examine closely in order to gain understanding. Example: “The scientists are looking into the potential applications of this new material. 🔬🔍”
- “Dig up:” Definition: To uncover or discover through research or investigation. Example: “They managed to dig up historical documents that shed light on the origins of the ancient civilization. 📜🔍”
- “Find out:” Definition: To discover information through research or investigation. Example: “They found out that the phenomenon was caused by a rare combination of natural factors. 🔬📚”
